Jeff is self trained artist, surfer, diver and musician, who lives in Laguna Niguel California. He has been interested in pen and ink illustration most of his life and in recent years started exploring acrylic and oil painting. Growing up in Willits, nestled in the coastal redwoods of Northern California, Jeff thrived in the creative and magical world of Mendocino County. In high school, Jeff’s artistic side was nurtured and encouraged by his family and teachers, where he discovered artists such as Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, the brother’s Hildebrant and HR Giger. His fascination in their combination of fantasy, realism, technology, and detail would later become the foundation of his style and technique. After high school, Jeff ventured from art and joined the Navy where he served onboard submarines, then moved to Arizona, working in the high-tech world of semiconductors. While in Arizona, Jeff explored his musical interest, writing, recording and performing, but felt most alive when designing the cover work for his bands posters and CD’s cover art. Eventually, finding his way back to Southern California, Jeff began exploring his art more seriously and combined with his love of wood working, began creating brilliant multimedia pieces with customized frames that not only frame the art, but are part of the piece. Drawing from his experiences in the Navy, surfing, scuba diving, science and technology, music and traveling, Jeff has created a body of work and style that is instantly recognizable.
His work is a visual “tongue in cheek” frolic into a clever world of physical improbability and metaphors.
